I want to tell you a little bit about a beautiful soul named Eleanor. She was my Grandmother and the inspiration for the name of our company... Lenore being a play on her name. She meant so much to my sisters and myself. Our Grammy was the world to us! As our prime caregiver for many years, she didn't have much to offer, but she made sacrifices everyday and gave up so much of her own life to take care of us. She slept on the couch for years, just so that we could sleep in her bed and be more comfortable. Every morning she would come in singing the "Good Morning" song, making sure our day started right. She packed our lunches for school everyday, putting our sandwiches in our favorite Garfield bags, and made sure we had everything else we needed. We were her "Monster Children" as she so affectiontely dubbed us, and she would do anything she could to make our lives as wonderful as possible, even though hers was, more often than not, a difficult one. She had suffered great loss in her life, like having lost her husband while pregnant with their third child and then tragically losing an adult child later on, all the while being the foundation for us all to stand on. And, even though she struggled with holding on to a career, all while taking care of us, she kept going no matter what. Eleanor was one of the hardest working women I've ever known. She never gave up, not on herself and not on her family. Her persistence and drive has stuck with me to this day, and I wouldn't be who I am today without her. I wish I could go back in time now and make things better for her... but, I can't. So, to honor her memory, and always remind myself to be strong like she was, I've made her Lenore's namesake.
